The Thunder Trucks 149 Team T-2 Inverted Polished (Sold In Pair) takes Thunder's legendary responsive turning geometry and combines it with an upgraded inverted kingpin system built for greater grind clearance, smoother slides, and dependable performance. Finished in classic polished silver, these trucks feature a sculpted aluminum hanger, solid steel axle, reinforced Team Edition cast aluminum baseplate, and translucent purple bushings that give the otherwise understated design a subtle touch of color. With an 8.5-inch axle width, the 149 is designed for skateboard decks measuring approximately 8.38" to 8.62" wide, making it an excellent match for the popular 8.5" setup favored by skaters who want additional stability without giving up technical maneuverability.
What separates the T-2 Inverted Edition from Thunder's traditional trucks is its redesigned kingpin assembly. The inverted solid kingpin sits low within the hanger, delivering 45% more kingpin clearance than standard Team Editions. Its exclusive low-profile head eliminates sharp, exposed edges that can catch during grinds, allowing for cleaner contact on ledges, rails, and coping. The kingpin adjusts using a 5.5mm or 7/32" Allen key, giving skaters the ability to fine-tune their trucks without dealing with a traditional protruding kingpin nut.
Beyond the kingpin, Thunder has made several improvements to the truck's overall construction. Rounded baseplate corners and a refined pivot housing help provide smoother nose and tail slides, while reinforced kingpin and pivot wall housings contribute to increased durability and longer truck life. The 90-durometer clear purple Thunder bushings deliver a responsive turning feel, paired with 100-durometer pivot cups designed for a quicker break-in period. Thunder's proven Team Edition geometry keeps the trucks responsive and predictable, with the kind of quick turning and precise control that has made the brand a longtime favorite among street skateboarders.
Thunder Trucks has been a major part of skateboarding's evolution for decades, with roots in San Francisco's influential Deluxe Distribution family, which also includes Real, Antihero, Krooked, and Spitfire Wheels. Developed around the needs of skateboarders rather than passing trends, Thunder earned its reputation through lightweight construction, responsive handling, and reliable durability. The inverted T-2 design reflects that same philosophy, introducing meaningful improvements to an already established platform while maintaining the familiar feel that generations of skaters have trusted.
The 149's wider 8.5" axle makes it particularly well suited for riders who prefer a little more board beneath their feet, whether they're skating technical street lines, larger gaps, transition, or simply cruising between spots. For skaters around Pasadena, Arcadia, Glendora, Azusa, and throughout the San Gabriel Valley, this is a versatile truck that handles everything from neighborhood curbs to demanding skatepark sessions. Available through STIX SGV, the Thunder 149 Team T-2 Inverted Polished trucks are sold as a pair of two, providing both trucks needed for a complete skateboard setup.
