The Stix SGV Deck Gabrielino "K" Shape (Yellow/Black) is a bold in-house shop deck with a strong local identity, designed by our good friend Juan “Lucky” Alvarez. Lucky’s background in West Coast streetwear runs deep—best known for his influential design work with Joker Brand alongside Mr. Cartoon—and that same sharp, confident visual language comes through on this board. The graphic is direct, powerful, and rooted in the kind of Los Angeles and San Gabriel Valley street culture that has always lived close to skateboarding.

The bottom graphic sits on a bright yellow base with oversized distressed black STIX SGV lettering running vertically through the center of the deck. Cracked, fractured linework spreads around the logo, giving the artwork the feeling of concrete breaking apart, like the name is pushing through the surface. It is simple from a distance but full of texture up close, with the worn graphic treatment giving it a raw, skated-in attitude before the first session even starts. The yellow and black contrast makes the board pop hard, whether it is hanging on the wall or getting set up with trucks, wheels, and grip.

The Gabrielino name gives the deck a deeper connection to place. It points back to the history of the land and the identity of the region, while still feeling like a modern STIX shop deck. For skaters from Monrovia, Arcadia, Duarte, El Monte, Covina, Azusa, San Dimas, Alhambra, Pasadena, West Covina, Claremont, La Verne, South Pasadena, and the surrounding SGV cities, this board carries a local energy without trying too hard. It feels like something made from inside the valley, not something made to imitate it.

This deck is built on our K Shape, one of the most dependable all-around shapes in the STIX SGV lineup. The K Shape is our classic standard shape, featuring a round nose and a slightly tapered tail, making it suitable for all terrain. The round nose gives you a familiar, comfortable front-foot feel for flip tricks, catches, and control, while the slightly tapered tail keeps the board responsive and quick off the ground. It is a shape that works well for street skating, ledges, flatground, banks, parks, curbs, and everyday cruising. The K remains a trusted option because it gives skaters a balanced, classic feel without getting overly specific or trendy.

Our boards are made in Mexico, and that matters to the quality of each deck. Mexico has become one of the most respected places in skateboard manufacturing, with strong woodshop craftsmanship, consistent pressing, and reliable production standards that help deliver the pop, shape, and durability skaters expect. A good deck is not just about the graphic—it is about how the plies are pressed, how the shape feels under your feet, and how consistently the board performs once it hits the ground. Having these boards made in Mexico helps ensure each deck has the right strength, snap, and dependable feel for real skating.

The Stix SGV Deck Gabrielino "K" Shape (Yellow/Black) also fits into a longer creative history for STIX. Years back, we were proud to collaborate with the now-defunct Cruizer and Co in conjunction with legendary artist Ric Clayton, and that project remains an important part of our shop’s design history. This Gabrielino deck continues that same spirit—working with real artists, respecting the culture, and making product that reflects both skateboarding and the community around it. Whether it is Ric Clayton, Cruizer and Co, or Juan “Lucky” Alvarez, the goal has always been to create pieces that feel connected, not generic.

Behind the deck is Stix SGV, an independent skate shop operation built around real skateboarding, local relationships, and product that represents the SGV with pride. Between Lucky’s design, the bold Gabrielino graphic, the proven K Shape, and the quality of a board made in Mexico, this deck is more than a shop logo board. It is a local piece with real skate function, strong visual identity, and a direct connection to the valley that raised it.

Stix SGV has proudly served the San Gabriel Valley skateboarding community since the late ‘90s. With three locations across Los Angeles County, we’ve been deeply rooted in the local scene. Our Monrovia shop has been a staple since 1997, followed by our Claremont location in 2014, and our South Pasadena shop opening its doors in 2022. Our mission has always been simple: to uphold skateboarding culture and stay true to our community.
