Powell Peralta Deck Pro Flight Chris Hiett Skull (9.5) drops a full dose of neon weirdness onto a modern Flight shape. The bottom graphic explodes in hot pink, with a wild jack-in-the-box rising from a green-and-blue coffin-shaped box, a bright red heart glowing in the center. Chris’s skeletal alter-ego pops out with high-voltage hair, ruffled green collar, and red eyes that look like they’re staring right through the coping. Above the graphic sits the blue foil Flight logo, while his script signature floats just beneath the box and the Powell Peralta wordmark is anchored at the tail. Flip it over and the top is almost fully blacked out—fiberglass texture showing through like carbon weave—giving the deck a stealthy contrast to the loud bottom art. The shaped 9.5" outline has a tall, rounded “coffin” nose, broad midsection, and squared-off tail, echoing the 80s shapes Chris loves while still feeling dialed for modern parks, DIYs, and backyard pools around the Valley.
Built with Powell’s FLIGHT® construction, this deck is thin, light, and incredibly strong—layers of hard rock maple fused with high-strength fiberglass and epoxy for pop that lasts and a board that shrugs off the slams that usually end a deck’s life. The 310 shape with K26 concave and 14.63" wheelbase gives you a stable platform with plenty of concave to lock in your feet, while the Short 4 – 2.125" truck hole pattern keeps things compatible with modern setups. It’s that perfect hybrid: wide enough to feel confident on channel transfers at your favorite bowl, but still responsive enough for technical lip tricks or navigating tight concrete lines from Pasadena parks to crusty SGV parking-lot banks.
This first pro graphic for Chris Hiett runs deeper than just a spooky jack-in-the-box. Working with legendary Powell artist Vernon Courtlandt Johnson (VCJ), the design is all about breaking out of the box—owning your weirdness, stepping into who you are, and finding your people through skating. Chris grew up skating in his garage and at his local Indiana park, often feeling like an outsider before connecting with the broader skate world and eventually landing on Powell Peralta. His shaped-board setup, mix of retro tricks and modern tech, and expressive style have made him stand out as a rider who blurs eras and treats skating as a form of art and self-discovery.
Powell Peralta, founded in 1978 by engineer George Powell and Z-Boy legend Stacy Peralta, helped rewrite what skateboarding companies could be—pairing product innovation with the Bones Brigade and some of the most iconic graphics ever printed on wood. VCJ’s artwork has long defined that look, from skulls and dragons in the 80s to this new generation of Flight graphics, keeping the brand’s mix of heavy symbolism and California skate history alive. The Powell Peralta Deck Pro Flight Chris Hiett Skull (9.5) carries that legacy forward—part collectible wall-hanger, part high-tech workhorse ready to grind, slash, and fly over whatever concrete you throw at it.
