On Hollywood Tee Grateful Dead Bertha S/S (Vintage) brings one of the Grateful Dead’s most recognizable pieces of artwork onto a soft vintage/natural short sleeve tee. The front graphic features the classic Bertha skeleton with roses in her hair, framed inside a bold turquoise and orange poster-style layout. “Grateful Dead” is printed across the top in tall, curved lettering, while the skeleton, orange roses, falling petals, and bright blue background give the shirt that old concert poster feel without looking overdone. The natural shirt body keeps it mellow, making the orange, blue, black, and cream artwork stand out cleanly.

The Grateful Dead connection to skateboarding is real, especially through skate video soundtracks. SkateVideoSite connects their music to videos like Cinco, Oh Shewt, Transworld’s Perpetual Motion, 7 Ply Cursive 2: Riding Dirty, Turning Thirty, Pushy, Wiener Melange, Through The Dark, Rasa Libre’s A Cosmic Experience, and TB 2008. Songs listed there include “Scarlet Begonias,” “Althea,” “Sugar Magnolia,” “Shakedown Street,” “Casey Jones,” “Fire On the Mountain,” “Touch of Grey,” and “Brokedown Palace,” which shows how their sound has lived inside skateboarding beyond just classic rock nostalgia.

The Grateful Dead came out of the Bay Area with Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Bill Kreutzmann, and Ron “Pigpen” McKernan among the core early members, building a band culture around improvisation, artwork, community, and road life. That crossover makes sense in skateboarding: long sessions, road trips, local crews, strange graphics, and people building their own lane. Around Monrovia, Pasadena, Arcadia, Duarte, Glendora, Covina, Claremont, and South Pasadena, this tee works for skaters, music heads, Dead fans, and anyone who likes a graphic with history behind it.

Stix SGV has proudly served the San Gabriel Valley skateboarding community since the late ‘90s. With three locations across Los Angeles County, we’ve been deeply rooted in the local scene. Our Monrovia shop has been a staple since 1997, followed by our Claremont location in 2014, and our South Pasadena shop opening its doors in 2022. Our mission has always been simple: to uphold skateboarding culture and stay true to our community.
