Hockey Deck Kevin Rodrigues Shocked (8.5) keeps things stripped down and heavy with a graphic that hits immediately and doesn’t need much else to say it. The top veneer comes in a clean black stain with a subtle sheen, finished with a small, centered Hockey logo near the upper bolts and a slightly larger logo hit closer to the tail—minimal, understated, and exactly how Hockey likes it. The simplicity up top contrasts hard with the bottom graphic, where a stark black-and-white portrait dominates the deck. The image captures a close-up expression—wide eyes, hand partially covering the mouth—creating a raw, almost uncomfortable intensity that feels pulled from a grainy film still. Below it, the bold red HOCKEY logo cuts through the monochrome, adding just enough color to anchor the entire composition.
The dimensions sit at 8.5” x 31.91” with a 14.25” wheelbase, built on Hockey’s Shape 1, featuring a steeper concave and that signature shovel-style nose. It gives the board a quick, reactive feel with a bit more snap on flick while still holding stability when you’re moving fast. That balance works well across everything from ledge skating in Pasadena to navigating rougher, less predictable terrain around the SGV. It’s the kind of shape that adapts without forcing you into one style.
Hockey Skateboards, led by Jason Dill and Anthony Van Engelen, continues to push a direction that’s less about polish and more about mood, tone, and authenticity. Their graphics often feel like fragments—images that stick with you without overexplaining themselves—and this deck fits right into that approach.
Kevin Rodrigues brings a completely different energy to that vision. Coming out of Paris, France, he’s known for a creative, instinct-driven style that feels more like exploration than repetition. Skating everything from construction zones to overlooked city spots, Rodrigues built his reputation on seeing things differently—finding lines where others wouldn’t even stop. Before joining Hockey, his work with Polar Skate Co. helped define a more artistic, free-flowing era of skating, and that same mindset carries into everything he touches now. His skating doesn’t follow rules—it creates its own rhythm, which makes this board feel like an extension of that perspective.
