Hockey Deck John Fitzgerald Incoming Shape 1 (8.5) has a clean top-stain side and a loud, unsettling Hockey graphic on the bottom. The top veneer comes in a bright pink woodgrain finish, with the natural grain showing through the stain and a small black-and-white John/Hockey-style center graphic placed between the truck holes. It keeps the top side simple and raw, letting the bottom graphic carry the full personality of the deck.
The bottom side sits on a bright blue background with a bold red HOCKEY logo across the upper-middle section. Below it, the artwork shows a figure being swarmed by dogs, giving the graphic a tense, chaotic, almost darkly funny feeling that lines up with Hockey’s rough-edged visual style. The contrast between the clean blue field, red logo, and detailed painted figure makes the deck stand out without feeling overdesigned.
This John Fitzgerald pro model measures 8.5" wide by 31.91" long with a 14.25" wheelbase. It uses Shape 1, the original FA/Hockey shaped board, known for a steeper concave and a shovel-style nose. That gives the board a locked-in, powerful feel underfoot with extra confidence up front, especially for skaters who like more board beneath them for ledges, rails, banks, transition, and heavier street skating. The 8.5 width gives it more landing room than a smaller street deck while still staying responsive enough for everyday sessions.
John Fitzgerald has a real local connection, raised between Glendora and Monrovia, which makes this deck hit differently for skaters around the SGV. His skating is known for speed, strength, and a no-hesitation approach to heavy spots, and this board carries that same energy. Hockey comes from the same creative world as Fucking Awesome, with Jason Dill and Anthony Van Engelen behind the company’s raw direction, helping build a brand that feels built for skaters who want something darker, sharper, and less polished. From Monrovia and Glendora to Pasadena, Arcadia, Covina, Alhambra, Claremont, and South Pasadena, this one has a stronger local pull than most Hockey releases.
Stix SGV has proudly served the San Gabriel Valley skateboarding community since the late ‘90s. With three locations across Los Angeles County, we’ve been deeply rooted in the local scene. Our Monrovia shop has been a staple since 1997, followed by our Claremont location in 2014, and our South Pasadena shop opening its doors in 2022.
