The Black Label Deck Matt Hensley Wingtips Tugboat Shape (9.5) is a fitting tribute to one of skateboarding’s most influential pioneers. Combining a custom wide-body shape, classic Black Label attitude, and artwork by skateboarding legend John Lucero, this deck blends old-school functionality with timeless style. Designed around Matt Hensley’s signature preferences, the 9.5" Tugboat Shape delivers a stable, confident ride for transition skating, bowls, banks, cruising, and anyone who appreciates a wider platform beneath their feet.

The bottom graphic immediately commands attention with a vibrant purple background featuring a pair of oversized blue wingtip shoes hanging from power lines. The shoes are laced together and suspended above a stylized cityscape, creating a playful yet distinctly street-inspired visual. Perched above the scene is a detailed bird resting on the wire, adding another layer of character to the artwork. Bold yellow lettering spelling "Matt Hensley" runs across the shoes, while the iconic Black Label flame logo and city elements near the tail complete the composition. The graphic perfectly reflects Hensley’s influence on skateboarding culture—equal parts creativity, individuality, and style.

The top side showcases an eye-catching turquoise stained veneer with visible natural wood grain running throughout. Centered near the tail is a white elephant graphic featuring the Black Label flame logo incorporated into the design. Like all Black Label decks featuring assorted stains, each board has its own unique wood grain pattern and coloration, making every deck slightly different from the next.

Built from 7-ply hardwood maple laminate, the Black Label Deck Matt Hensley Wingtips Tugboat Shape (9.5) measures 9.5" x 32.125" with a 14.5" wheelbase. The custom Tugboat Shape offers a wider profile that provides exceptional stability and comfort, making it ideal for transition riders, pool skaters, curb enthusiasts, and anyone seeking a classic feel with modern construction. The generous width creates a planted ride that feels equally at home carving a bowl or cruising through neighborhood streets.

Matt Hensley remains one of the most important figures in skateboard history. Rising to prominence during the late 1980s with H-Street Skateboards, Hensley helped redefine what street skating could be through his groundbreaking video parts, massive ollies, and creative use of everyday urban terrain. His influence can still be seen in modern skateboarding today, from technical street skating to skate culture’s embrace of personal style and individuality. Beyond skateboarding, Hensley is also known worldwide as the longtime accordion player for the influential Celtic punk band Flogging Molly.

Black Label Skateboards was founded by skateboarding icon John Lucero, whose commitment to independent skateboarding has kept the brand respected for decades. Lucero’s artwork and design sensibilities remain deeply woven into Black Label’s identity, and this deck serves as a perfect example of that creative legacy. Whether displayed as a collectible honoring one of skateboarding’s true innovators or set up for daily sessions around Pasadena, Covina, Glendora, Monrovia, or beyond, this board represents a genuine piece of skateboarding history.
