Zero Deck Team American Zero Abe Curb Shape (8.75) is one of those rare setups that instantly tells you exactly what it was made for the second you look at it. Built around Abe Bethel’s deep obsession with slappies, curb combos, and ultra-technical low-impact street skating, this limited Small Batch release strips things down to pure curb-session energy. The graphic keeps it clean and loud at the same time — a bright aqua-blue stained veneer base layered with oversized red, white, and blue star graphics running nose to tail, with bold “American Zero” typography planted dead center. The layout almost feels like an old-school athletic logo or vintage racing decal, but reworked through Zero’s rougher skate aesthetic. There’s nothing overcomplicated about it, which is exactly the point. This deck was made to get destroyed on parking blocks, rough sidewalks, painted curbs, and all the overlooked spots most people drive past every day.
What makes this one extra special is that only a small batch of Abe’s personally chosen boards exist, and somehow we managed to get them here at the shop. That gives this release a much more personal feel than a standard catalog drop. The board itself was handmade at Zero and designed directly around Abe Bethel’s preferred dimensions for curb skating — shorter wheelbase, long nose and tail, quick turning response, and maximum lock-in for slappies and technical ledge tricks. The 13.75” wheelbase keeps the setup incredibly snappy while the longer shovel-style nose and tail help maintain control through quick pivots, reverts, manuals, and awkward curb approaches.
Founded by Jamie Thomas, Zero Skateboards has always represented raw street skating and individuality, but Abe Bethel carved out his own lane completely. Instead of chasing giant rails or contest skating, Bethel became widely respected for elevating curb skating into its own artform. His combinations almost feel impossible at times — long flowing lines stitched together with nose pivots, slappy grinds, curb cuts, wall taps, and technical movements most skaters wouldn’t even think to attempt. After moving to Los Angeles and getting pulled deeper into the underground curb scene, Abe’s skating gained a cult following through clips filmed at random curbs outside grocery stores, warehouses, and industrial parking lots. Honestly, spots around the SGV in places like Alhambra, Covina, Azusa, or behind old shopping centers in Pasadena suddenly start looking way more skateable after watching his footage.
Built with a standard layup and pressed in Mexico, the deck measures 8.75” x 32.5” and offers a super stable platform while still staying reactive underfoot. The wider width gives plenty of room for locking into slappies and curb tricks while maintaining comfort for transition or rough street terrain. Top veneer colors come assorted and chosen at random, making every board slightly different.
