Hockey Deck John Fitzgerald Take A Hike (8.5) delivers a stripped-down, atmospheric graphic that hits just as hard as Fitzgerald’s skating. The bottom graphic sets a moody, cinematic scene—figures gathered around a fire beneath a dark sky, framed by subtle gradients and shadowed tones—while the bold HOCKEY logo floats overhead with quiet authority. The artwork feels introspective and raw, matching Hockey’s signature approach of letting imagery speak without explanation. Up top, the deck keeps it clean with a natural wood stain and minimal branding, letting the shape and construction do the talking.

Built on the FA/Hockey original Shape 1, this deck features a steeper concave and the brand’s signature shovel-style nose, designed for control at speed and confidence on big terrain. At 8.5" x 31.91" with a 14.25" wheelbase, it offers a stable, responsive feel that works just as well charging crusty street spots as it does locking into longer grinds. Traditional 7-ply hard rock maple construction delivers consistent pop, durability, and that familiar snap skaters expect from Hockey boards.

Hockey Skateboards was launched by Jason Dill and Anthony Van Engelen as a raw offshoot of Fucking Awesome, built around intensity, honesty, and zero compromise. The brand has become known for pairing stark, often unsettling visuals with high-performance shapes trusted by some of the most powerful skaters in the world. The Take A Hike graphic fits squarely into that lineage—unfiltered, atmospheric, and unapologetically heavy.

John Fitzgerald grew up in Glendora, California, coming up skating the San Gabriel Valley, where fast skating, rough spots, and zero hand-holding shaped his approach early on. Known for his speed, aggression, and willingness to throw down on terrain most people avoid, Fitzgerald embodies the Hockey mentality through and through. His skating reflects the SGV ethos—charge first, deal with it later—and this pro model captures that same energy in board form.
