Fucking Awesome Deck AVE La Corona (8.5) is a heavy statement piece built on one of the most respected names in modern street skating. This pro model for Anthony Van Engelen—known worldwide as AVE—pairs raw visual impact with the FA/Hockey original Shape #1 construction.

The top veneer shows a clean, solid yellow stain with visible woodgrain bleeding subtly through the surface. Centered just above the front bolt pattern sits a small FA world stamp graphic, understated and precise. Mid-deck features a bold, black “AVE” hit in a loose, spray-style script, with “Fucking Awesome” printed beneath in smaller white text. The top graphic keeps it stripped down and direct—minimal branding that lets the shape and bottom artwork speak loudest.

Flip it over and the bottom graphic takes over completely. A dramatic, high-contrast painting depicts a solemn, downward-facing portrait wearing a glowing crown of thorns. The face is rendered in deep browns and burnt orange tones, illuminated from within, creating an almost airbrushed glow effect. The board’s tail and nose are framed with soft white banding near the kicks, isolating the central artwork and giving the deck a gallery-like presence. The image, credited to Tercer Mundo, gives the deck a fine-art feel while staying grounded in FA’s darker, confrontational aesthetic.

Built on Shape #1, this is the FA/Hockey original shaped board featuring a steeper concave and a distinct “shovel” style nose. At 8.5" x 31.91" with a 14.25" wheelbase, it offers stability for high-speed lines while keeping a responsive pocket for technical control. The steeper concave locks your feet in, especially on powerful pop and switch landings—fitting for AVE’s signature mix of speed, strength, and technical precision.

Anthony Van Engelen (born November 20, 1978) is a legendary and deeply influential professional skateboarder from San Diego, California. Known for raw power, speed, and technical switch mastery, AVE turned pro in 1999 with Alien Workshop and delivered iconic video parts in Photosynthesis, Mind Field, and Vans’ Propeller—earning him Thrasher Skater of the Year in 2015. In 2013, he co-founded Fucking Awesome with Jason Dill, shaping one of the most influential brands in modern skateboarding. With a career spanning over 25 years, AVE continues to redefine longevity and work ethic in street skating.

The AVE La Corona graphic carries that same intensity—serious, unapologetic, and grounded in purpose. It feels just as at home bombing hills toward South Pasadena as it does charging through rougher pavement sessions across the SGV. This is a board built for real skating, not wall decoration—though it could easily hold its own there too.

Stix SGV has proudly served the San Gabriel Valley skateboarding community since the late ‘90s. With three locations across Los Angeles County, we’ve been deeply rooted in the local scene. Our Monrovia shop has been a staple since 1997, followed by our Claremont location in 2014, and our South Pasadena shop opening its doors in 2022. Our mission has always been simple: to uphold skateboarding culture and stay true to our community.
