THE HISTORY OF THE ANDREW REYNOLDS SKATE SHOE

Andrew Reynolds, affectionately known as "The Boss," has significantly influenced skateboarding culture, not only through his technical prowess and style but also via his iconic signature skate shoes. From his early collaborations with Emerica to his recent ventures with New Balance Numeric, Reynolds' footwear journey mirrors the evolution of skateboarding itself.

Emerica Era: The Birth of a Legacy

Emerica Reynolds 1 (1998)

Reynolds' inaugural signature shoe with Emerica debuted in 1998, marking a pivotal moment in skate shoe history. The Reynolds 1 featured a robust silhouette with a padded tongue and collar, catering to the high-impact demands of street skating. Its design set a new standard for durability and style in skate footwear.

Emerica Reynolds 2 (2002)

Building on the success of its predecessor, the Reynolds 2 introduced a sleeker profile while retaining the essential cushioning and support. This model became a favorite among skaters for its balance between board feel and protection.

Emerica Reynolds 3 (2005)

The third installment in the Reynolds line showcased a refined design with improved flexibility and grip. Its streamlined construction appealed to skaters seeking both performance and aesthetic appeal.

Emerica Reynolds 3 G6 Vulc

An evolution of the Reynolds 3, the G6 Vulc incorporated Emerica's G6 cushioning technology, offering enhanced impact protection without compromising board control. The vulcanized sole provided superior grip and flexibility.

Emerica Reynolds Low Vulc

The Low Vulc variant presented a lower profile and minimalist design, catering to skaters who preferred a closer connection to their board. Its simplicity and functionality made it a staple in the skate community.

Transition to New Balance Numeric

After two decades with Emerica, Reynolds transitioned to New Balance Numeric in 2020, seeking new horizons in skate footwear innovation.

New Balance Numeric 480

Before his signature model, Reynolds was seen skating in the NB Numeric 480, a shoe that combined classic aesthetics with modern skate functionality. Its performance and comfort set the stage for future collaborations.

New Balance Numeric 933 (2025)

In April 2025, Reynolds unveiled his first signature shoe with New Balance Numeric—the NM933. This model blends the brand's heritage running designs with skate-specific features. It boasts ABZORB cushioning, NDurance rubber outsoles, and a padded tongue for optimal comfort and performance. The NM933 is set to release in four colorways at STIX SGV.

Andrew Reynolds' journey through skate shoe design reflects his commitment to progression and excellence. Each model not only catered to the evolving needs of skateboarders but also left an indelible mark on skate culture. As Reynolds continues to innovate, his footwear legacy serves as a testament to his enduring influence in the world of skateboarding.
