The Nike SB Dunk Low QS (Arts Rec) blends nostalgic storytelling with modern skate-ready performance. A collaboration between Nike SB and Arts-Rec Skateshop, this Dunk Low takes inspiration from the natural tones, textures, and wildlife found in San Diego’s historic Balboa Park. The result is a truly unique colorway—Rust Pink toe boxes, Rough Green quarter panels, and peach-orange suede Swooshes—intertwined with wild black panther-print overlays. Underfoot, a Sail-colored midsole and semi-translucent dark outsole carry the sneaker’s tactile storytelling from top to bottom, with “arts” and “rec” branding on the heels, custom printed sockliners, and debossed details throughout.
From a tech perspective, it’s still built for skating. A Zoom Air unit in the heel, padded tongue, and durable suede and leather upper offer boardfeel, comfort, and longevity—whether you're pushing through SoCal streets or filming clips in the park. The custom outsole graphics, along with animal-inspired inner linings, give this pair a deep visual narrative without compromising function.
The collaboration comes by way of Kellen James and Mike Metcalf, longtime San Diego skate staples. Kellen, known for his buttery style and memorable parts with DGK and Expedition One, launched Arts-Rec in 2018, channeling his roots in both skating and fashion. What started as a skateshop in downtown San Diego has grown into a brand and community hub—hosting art shows, skate events, and dropping premium goods that reflect their city’s diverse, cultural energy. Their Balboa Park-inspired Dunk Low is not only a tribute to the city that raised them, but a nod to the dual nature of skateboarding itself: raw and refined, athletic and expressive.
